SEPTEMBER HIGHLIGHTS: WHAT'S HAPPENING IN OCEAN CITY
AVIATION WEEKEND, Sept.19-20, a weekend of thrilling stunt flying aerobotics and ground displays in Ocean City. On Sat., Sept.19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. there will be an array of unusual planes ranging from World War II fighters to classics and Warbirds on the ground where they can be inspected, a helicopter rescue exhibition, an exciting model airplane show by Cape May County Wasp at noon, airplane and helicopter rides for a fee, a paper airplane contest and much more at the Municipal Airport, 26th and Bay Ave. You will be able to view close up and inside the FAA's Aero Commander N-50. Admission is free and there will be refreshments for sale. Sunday September 20, an exciting air show featuring stunt pilots performing over the ocean and beach is set from 1 to 3 p.m. Some of best stunt pilots in the world will be featured. Watch the show from 6th to 14th Streets on the Boardwalk.
CORVETTE SHOW & U.S. NAVY BAND Sunday September 27 Over 400 corvettes will roll into Ocean City and be displayed on the Boardwalk from 6th to 10th Street ~ 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event has grown into one the largest Corvette Shows in the Country and attracts owners from throughout the East Coast. Carrie Dickinson of Ocean City is a Charter member of the Boardwalk Corvette Club that was founded in 1983 The Club runs the show and Carrie is Club Secretary and co-chairperson of the show The Boardwalk Corvettes support area charities including the Ocean City Humane Society.
COUNTRY CURRENT United State's Navy's Country-Bluegrass Band will perform at the Music Pier Sunday September 27 ~ 1 p.m. These outstanding musicians have been featured at Grand Ole Opry, The Wheeling Jamboree, the White House and venues throughout the country They play contemporary country as well as classic blue grass and the durable standards sung by George Jones, Merle Haggard, Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton
On Wednesday September 16, it's A Night In Old Vienna with the orchestra paying homage to the Waltz King, Johann Struass, Jr. You'll hear marches and Polkas in a grand style. The concert starts 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15/$10.
East Meets West Sunday September 20 ~ 7:30 p.m. Hughes Performing Arts Center 6th and Atlantic Aveenue Experience poetic gems and great dramatic music from China, France, Spain, Russia and the U.S.A. Virtuoso pianist Claire Hwang-Ci returns to the Pops Also featured-trumpeter Sanford Thompson playing Arutunian Concerto. The Pops return for a Holiday Concert Joy to the World Ocean City Tabernacle Saturday December 19 ~ 8 p.m. This will be an orchestra and choral celebration of the glorious sounds of Christmas Maestro Scheible and the Pops will be joined by the heraldic trumpets, glorious choirs, dazzling bells, special soloists and musicologist Dr. Richard Stanislaw Tickets $15 The Pops will also play a New Year's Eve concert at the Tabernacle as part of our First Night celebration
The Ocean City Arts Center will present a joint reading by National Book Award Winning poet, MARK DOTY and award winning author, PAUL LISICKY Friday September 25 ~ 7 p.m. Tickets $5 The reading is made possible by a grant from the Ocean City Free Public Library
DOWNTOWN FARMERS MARKET The Downtown is hosting a Farmers Market Saturdays September 5 through Saturday October 3 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. City Annex Parking Lot 9th and Asbury Avenue The Downtown will also host Cupcakes for a Cause during those days a bake sale by local groups to benefit their organizations.

THE 2009 OCEAN CITY BOARDWALK WALK to Defeat ALS September 26 ~ 9 a.m. Registration 10 a.m. start at the Music Pier. This 3 mile fun walk raises money to support patient services and research for ALS in this area. All registered walkers receive a T Shirt.
